Located at the ‘Gateway to Wales’ the Abergavenny Food Festival has enjoyed nine years of success and has established itself as one of the nation’s premier food events.
Our basic principles are the same today as they were then…
- We aim to celebrate craft in food-making – be it on the farm, in the factory or in the kitchen.
- We aim to celebrate the diversity of foods and traditions, both here in Wales and those of other places.
- We aim to celebrate the conviviality and sociability that surrounds eating and drinking, whether with friends or strangers – and we aim to do it all in the most special and spectacular style that we can manage.
Last year’s festival had over 30,000 visitors, 98% of whom cited local or regional produce is an important factor in deciding whether to attend the Festival (Festival market research 2007).
“…Abergavenny has a wonderful energy and individuality that no other food festival can recreate. It’s clear the town takes great pride in it.”
Joanna Blythman, (investigative journalist, broadcaster and food campaigner).
