This event is FREE but must be booked through Blaenavon TIC. Pick up / drop off by minibus at Abergavenny TIC (in bus station car park NP7 5HL).
A walk / talk in the forgotten landscapes of Blaenavon World Heritage Site. See Keeper's Pond and the Cairn on The Blorenge summit. Led by Steve Rogers and local beekeeper, Calwyn Glastonbury. Focusing on the area's industrial past and wildlife conservation of heather moorland. Wear appropriate footwear and bring wet weather clothes and a drink. Suitable for children age 7+.

Bush Craft
Sunday 18 September, 10.00am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.00pm. 14 places available for each trip. Level: 3 km / 2 miles / moderate

Discover wild food in the woods, and learn the fundamentals of fire making / outdoor cooking with bush craft expert Alan Cree (Wilderness Discovery). Find out interactively how past residents used the environment.Suitable for children age 7+.

Forest Cooking Skills & Outdoor Adventure Activites

Ticketed entry: £5.00 per car
Enjoy culinary delights cooking al fresco. Activities include bushcraft, woodcarving and mobile making, ball sports, archery, climbing wall, high ropes. Indoor traverse for younger children. Activities supervised by qualified staff, but parents must remain on site. Refreshments on sale, or bring your own picnic to eat in grounds.

Teddy Bears' Picnic and Duck Race
Swan Meadows

Bring your bear and enjoy a gentle picnic at Swan Meadows before watching the launch of the Ducks for the annual Duck Race. This year the Duck Race is in aid of Inca, a beautiful mare who had been abandoned and whose foal had drowned. She was in a very bad way and is still deeply traumatised. Inca is being nursed back to health at SWHP Horse Hospital at Monmouth.
