Clarke’s Restaurant
The senior chefs at Glen-yr-Afon have been in fierce competition (male chefs vs female chefs) to decide who should represent the restaurant at the Festival. Will it be the ladies led by Head Chef Julie Carey? Or will it be the men? Come and find out.

Iain Sampson & Nick Henry
Now at The Barn at Brynich, local favourite Iain Sampson is enjoying the great quality Welsh Black beef and Breconshire lamb. But here he focuses on fish with Nick Henry of Moby Nick’s, the Plymouth-based fish merchants who supplied John Burton Race and Michael Caines for The Great British Menu.

The Culinary Cottage – Penny Lewis
After many years travelling the globe cooking for dignitaries, celebrities and royalty, Penny Lewis has returned home to open her own cookery school at Pandy where she is offering one-day and residential courses for cooks of all abilities from 16yrs upwards.
Penny will be running a Game cookery course in association with Waitrose on Wed 17 and Thur 18 September. For more details click here

Cookery Competition
The three finalists are once again supported by local mentors Franco Taruschio and Iain Sampson and are joined by guest judge and compere Cyrus Todiwala MBE and Julie Barratt from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

1861 – Simon King
Simon King learned his trade alongside top chefs such as Martin Blunos and the Roux Brothers. After a spell as Head Chef at the Llansantffraed Court, he and his wife Kate have struck out on their own and are getting great reviews at their Cross Ash restaurant, 1861. Simon will be using the best of the season’s hedgerows to demonstrate a bramble sauce with loin of Veal, with a dessert of bramble mousse.
