Eat your words - creative writing workshops

Academi will provide stimulating food-based creative writing workshops with the above groups in the Festival run-up, culminating in an event on Saturday 13 September and a showcase on the main stage at Abergavenny Castle during the Festival on Saturday 20 September. Tasty and thought-provoking poetry will be written and performed by members of Collective Writers, including Ric Hool and Geoff Rees (who meet regularly at the Hen & Chicks, Abergavenny).

Food swap party

A fun way to make new friends! Your ‘swap’ could be grown, made, produced or bought. Please call Louise on 01873 736035 for more information. Participants must register before Thursday 18 September.

Apple workshops/events

Usk Rural Life Museum (www.uskmuseum.org.uk) and adventa will be holding a series of events focussed on apples during the summer holidays. Over the Festival weekend they will be at Abergavenny Castle with Apple Activities; and they will celebrate National Apple Day in October at the Usk Rural Life Museum.


School cookery workshop with Fi Bird
Not open to the general public

Interactive cookery workshops by Fi Bird of Stirrin’ Stuff at Llantillio Pertholey Church in Wales Primary School and Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni. Sponsored by Marks and Spencer. Fi will be running workshops at the Sacla’ Food Academy at The Castle over the Festival weekend.
