The flavours of Africa will be at the Food Festival this year – in the Green Zone
Love Zimbabwe in conjunction with Usk Valley Digital have built on their success in previous years as The Green Zone, with an African village theme. The village will be a celebration of all things African with the emphasis on Zimbabwe. Love Zimbabwe will sell hand made fairly traded arts and crafts and Taste Zimbabwe will have authentic Zimbabwean food to sample and buy. There will also be Fairtrade tea and coffee.
Sadza or corn meal is the staple diet in Zimbabwe, and also on sale will be fish stew, green African vegetables in onion and tomato sauce, peanut butter sauce and beef stew.
During the day there will African drum workshops and the amazing Sanganai Marimba dance group consisting of local school children.
There will also be some giant canvasses with an African theme by local children.
Tools for Self Reliance will sell their recycled products, Fairtrade and several other green stands, either displaying or selling their products. To find the African Green Village just follow the carbon foot prints in Market Street or follow the dance group as they make their way down Market Street.
