Opening Times – 2012 Festival

Festival opens: 9.30am – 5.00pm except Market Hall & Cross Street, which stay open until 7.00pm on Saturday.

Festival Box Offices open: 9.00am.

Festival Car parks: open 8.30am. Note: Gates are Closed & Locked at 8pm*.

Park & Ride Buses (Saturday only): First bus from 9.00am - last bus (from town pickup/drop off point) leaves at 6.30pm.

* If you are coming to an evening event (e.g. 'Party at the Castle') you should move your car to one of the towns car parks before the Festival car parks close.


Satellite Navigation Devices

When using Satellite Navigation devices to get to the Festival please be aware that routes to car parks have all been strategically devised to ease congestion. It is important that you Follow Festival Signage when nearing the town.


Festival visitor car parking

Festival car parking will be clearly signed:


Park & Walk (Saturday and Sunday)

Castle Meadows (10 minutes. walk), access from the A465 (Heads of the Valleys road)

Bailey Park (5 minute walk), access from the A465 (Hereford to Abergavenny road)

Park & Ride (Saturday only)

There will be two Park & Ride car parks available on Saturday 15th September, signs on the main trunk roads approaching Abergavenny will clearly identify both locations.


Getting to the 2012 Festival

By car: The M4 from London, the South-East and Home Counties, the A40 via the Cotswolds, Gloucester and Monmouth; the M6, M5, M50 and A40 from the North and Midlands or through the Welsh Marches by way of the A449, A465 or A46. Follow Festival signage to nearest car park.

By Coach: There are regular long-distance services to Newport (contact your National Express travel agent) connecting with National Welsh and Red and White services.

By Rail: Abergavenny is served by fast and frequent train services on the Cardiff to Manchester line. Connections from London Paddington, Bristol and the South West of England are available at Newport. Connections from Birmingham at Hereford.


Festival venue access

Disablled acces (icon)Main market venues are fully accessible to wheelchair-users and mobility scooters. The Wedgewood Room at the Angel Hotel involves using some steps. Trinity Hall is approx. 7 minutes walk from the centre of town. St Michael's Centre is approximately 12 minutes walk from the centre of town.


Car park access

Bailey Park is the most suitable for people bringing their own wheelchairs and scooters. All town car-parks have allocated parking.


Mobility scooters

Shopmobility will be running over the weekend from 10.00am to 4.00pm daily. To be sure of securing a scooter, please book in advance by calling Freephone 0800 298 3656. Situated in Castle Street car park.


Under 16s

Under 16s must be accompanied.
