First Food Festival Fringe to promote local business
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Abergavenny Food Festival which takes place over the weekend of 20 and 21 September.
Over the past few years organisers have promoted various community events around the weekend. For 2008 there are plans to take things a step further and develop a full ‘Festival Fringe’ (13 to 21 September) to highlight the diversity and quality of what Abergavenny and the surrounding area has to offer to both visitors and residents. Local businesses and community groups are invited to get involved.
Communications Manager Cathy Green says, “We will promote your event free of charge. Fringe participants will be featured on our website, and we will also produce and distribute a special printed programme for everything that’s open to the general public.”
“It is important that your event supports the aims of the festival. We want to celebrate the growing, cooking and production of good food and the conviviality of eating, be it with friends or strangers. The kind of thing we’re looking for might be a special meal and/or wine-tasting, a community supper, a cake competition, a food-trail, talks and workshops or a window-dressing with an in-store promotion. It doesn’t have to be exclusively about food: it could be a musical event with a special meal, or themed art exhibition. Whether you’re a business or a voluntary group you’re welcome to participate.”
If you’d like to get involved please call Cathy Green on 01873 851643 or e.mail: affinfo@abergavennyfoodfestival.com heading your message ‘Festival Fringe’. Or write to Abergavenny Food Festival, PO Box 49, Abergavenny, NP7 5XZ.
