PRESS RELEASE
2nd September 2008
REDROW SPONSORSHIP IS A RECIPE FOR FOOD FESTIVAL SUCCESS
REDROW Homes is sponsoring a slice of the action at this year’s Abergavenny Food Festival – offering backing to four individual food-themed events.
It is the first time a housebuilder has sponsored the festival in its 10-year history and Redrow, who are launching their brand new Croesonnen Court development in Abergavenny on September 6th and 7th, is delighted to be the first developer to offer support for the milestone event in the ‘foodie’ calendar.
Luly Brice, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales) said: “Redrow has always strived to get involved in the communities in which it builds and is also keen to play its role in creating more sustainable homes for the future. That’s why one of the events we’ve chosen to sponsor is the ‘energy savers’ demonstration by author and journalist Richard Ehrlich and appliance expert Jennipher Marshall-Jenkinson. It’s all about ways of reducing your kitchen’s energy consumption, which is responsible for about half the energy we use in our homes.
“We are also sponsoring three fascinating food demonstrations across the course of the festival, including one all about cheese by non other than the former Blur guitarist Alex James and his neighbour and founder of the British Cheese awards Juliet Harbutt.
“This year’s food festival promises to be a treat for the taste buds to bring together the local community and admirers from afar. We hope visitors from far and wide will fall in love with the beautiful surroundings of Abergavenny and may even like to visit our new Croesonnen Court development, off Croesonen Road, with a view to making this lovely area their permanent home.”
Cathy Green, communications manager for the festival, said: "Organisers of The Abergavenny Food Festival are always keen to develop business partnerships with organisations in the region. We are delighted that Redrow has come on board as sponsor of four events which form part of the rolling programme of masterclasses and tutored tastings across the weekend. It's the first time we've had a property developer involved and we'd like to thank them for their support in the festival's tenth anniversary year."
Redrow’s commitment to communities across the UK has earned it the BITC ‘PerCent Standard’ for four consecutive years, a benchmark that recognises firms who give at least 1% of their pre-tax profits back to the community as donations, sponsorship, employee time or gifts in kind.
