Abergavenny is generally a very accessible town and the festival takes place right at the centre.
The best place to park for access to the Market Hall, Upper Brewery Yard and Lower Brewery Yard is Fairfield Car Park. Adjacent is Bailey Park Car Park which has a disabled parking area, however it is a grassed site with a concrete path around the perimeter and will become less suitable in wet weather.
There is limited disabled Car Parking at Castle Street Car Park, next to Shopmobility, with good access to the Farmyard, St John’s Square & the Castle.
Castle Meadows Car Park is not suitable for mobility access as it is a meadow, but it does have a designated blue badge car parking area. The terrain is uneven and there is a slope to reach the main festival site.
For Abergavenny Shopmobility, please call 0800 298 3656 or email email@example.com to book.
Shopmobility Festival opening times are Saturday & Sunday 09:30 – 16:30.
There will be a road closure in place from St Johns Square along Castle Street, which will be manned by a steward over the weekend. Anyone with a blue badge will be allowed through the road closure and guided by our steward to disabled parking in Castle Street Car Park, which is directly next to Shopmobility.
Due to availability we cannot guarantee a space, so you are advised to arrive before 9:30am for the best chance of parking at this location.
All of our main market venues are accessible to wheelchair users and mobility scooters.
Chadwick’s yard has a ramp at either end and a gravel surface, which is not suitable for small wheeled scooters, but there is a short route around to Tivertons & Horsingtons.
Upper & Lower Brewery Yard are separated by steps, however there is wheelchair access between the two via Market Street.
Please be aware that there are some uneven surfaces and that it can become crowded at times.
Additional ticketed events take place in various locations around Abergavenny. Unfortunately the Timothy Oulton Drinks’ Theatre is not accessible for wheelchair users.
Most venues have hearing loops installed. Please get in touch to confirm this is the case for the events you wish to attend.
Please get in touch for more information about tickets for carers.
