EXCITING NEWS FOR 2023 NEW PRODUCER APPLICANTS!
As part of our 25th birthday celebrations, Abergavenny Food Festival has teamed up with our wonderful sponsors, Gower Cottage Brownies, who are generously donating a bursary to support one lucky new producer with a free pitch at this year’s event in The Priory Souk: New Producers Market, including promotions across our social channels, plus a pre-event chat and festival weekend meet and greet with Kate Jenkins of Gower Cottage Brownies to support and advise you on making the most of your pitch. Together, we want to encourage more new businesses and start-ups to be able to come to the festival, and to access support and guidance to grow their businesses. To be eligible to apply for this bursary, you must be a new, small business or start-up (trading for less than 2 years) with a turnover of less than £2k. There is a section on the online application form to fill in to tell us why you think you deserve to be awarded this bursary. Good luck!
Selections
We base our selections on the key criteria of Quality, Taste and Sustainability and are especially keen to hear from new producers, Welsh producers and those doing things differently. What makes you unique? What makes your product stand out? Share your story with us and apply on the link below.
Whilst we do prioritise local, Welsh and borders producers and products, this does not guarantee entry as quality, diversity and sustainability is paramount, and in competitive categories we cannot have too many like for like products or producers. Individual reasons for applications not being selected are not automatically given due to the sheer number we receive. It is simply not possible to select every trader that meets the criteria or that the panel wish to offer a pitch to, so it is often a case of balance and variety. We appreciate your understanding in this.
Selections will be made in early March and all successful traders will be notified by mid-March. All other traders will be notified by mid- April, before Easter.
Pitch Fees
Pitch fees can be found on the Booking Form link below and in the Ts and Cs. A 50% deposit of the balance of the pitch fee (services excluded) will be payable to secure your pitch and confirm your booking by Wednesday 5th April 2023. The remaining 50% balance of the full pitch fee is due by Wednesday 17th May 2023. All services must be paid for by Wednesday 2nd August. Please only apply if you are able to make these payment deadlines as late payments will not be chased and your pitch will be forfeited plus any deposits or part payments paid retained by the festival.
Markets
This year’s available markets include the Market Hall, Upper Brewery Yard, Lower Brewery Yard (including Street Food Night Market), Tiverton Place (including the new home of the Cheese and Wine market), The Priory Courtyard (Fish and Fizz market), The New Producer’s Market (Priory Souk) and The Castle.
Before you apply:
- Please read all Terms & Conditions thoroughly before applying. By applying for a pitch you are confirming that you agree to all terms and can make the payment deadlines listed on the Ts and Cs.
- You MUST have a valid 3 * or above food hygiene certificate from your local council to trade at the event, if applicable to your business. Please do not apply if your current rating is less than 3*, unless this is being re-scored before March 2023, or you have a re-score application in progress – proof of this will be required. If you are awaiting inspection, please let us know details on the form.
