Henry Ashby was born 1955 in West Riding Yorkshire to dad Thomas, an electrician, and mum Barbara, an accountant. After a brief spell in the Middle East, Henry returned to the UK for education and spent holidays with grandparents who started his interest in foraging. Moved to Scilly Isles aged nine, where someone who lived near school taught him how to forage fish and what he called shrimping but were prawns. Henry spent 24 years in RN 21 as submariner, after retiring in 1995, he entered the catering industry specialising in wild food. Ran own restaurant for two years but due to health problems had to stop and started full time foraging. After meeting up with Chris Harrod five years ago, Henry became dedicated forager to The Whitebrook.
