Abergavenny Food Festival was created in 1999 by two local farmers in response to the BSE crisis then sweeping the country. With the outbreak of Foot and Mouth in 2001, the festival pushed harder to showcase both local produce and the passion of the people behind it. This year, in response to the ongoing uncertainty for farmers across the UK, we have increased the size and scope of our festival Farmyard. We want to tell the real story of farming today, celebrate the passion and diversity, and bring you up close and personal to the people, and produce that feeds you.
The Farmyard is spread over Castle Street market, and there is plenty to see, do and take home across the whole festival weekend. From visiting the animals at the livestock pens; to being part of the audience at the Farmyard Speakers Stage sponsored by Triodos Bank, and dropping by the family friendly activity tent, which will host plenty of mini workshops for kids of all ages, from wild tea making with foraged finds, face painting, animal charcoal drawings and more.
With thanks to Triodos Bank for their support of the farmyard stage
