The Castle grounds are where you will find family activities. These take place on the Lower Lawns — all part of the Day Stroller Ticket experience (with free entry to the Festival for children under 16 if with a paying adult).

Make Welsh Rarebit Muffins
**UPDATE: ALL PRE-BOOKING SLOTS ARE NOW TAKEN. THERE WILL BE A FEW SPACES AVAILABLE FOR WALK-UP ON THE DAY**
Sara Butler, who runs the award-winning Cook Stars Cookery school says: ‘Come and join us celebrate Welsh food by making some Welsh rarebit muffins! Perfect to eat at breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Children will make their muffins from scratch, whilst they are baking we will be decorating our muffin boxes and making a Welsh love spoon (not from scratch!)
Children aged 5 and above can be left. Children aged below 5 must have an adult stay with them at all times. Sorry NO alcohol allowed in the tent.’
Saturday Sessions (Now fully booked up. 5 spaces per session available for walk-up on the day.)

12.30-1.30pm – Session in Welsh (age 2 to 14)
2.00-3.00pm (age 2 to 7 – same activities, but geared to younger children)

9.30-10.30am (age 2 to 17) — This is a QUIET session (hopefully will be signed as well) and aimed at children who may need some additional help. Parents are welcome to stay and cook alongside their child(ren).

Display of twenty nine species of British butterfly (and one spectacular moth) with ID quiz matching up their names.
Amazing Bees:
Advice on Darwinian beekeeping; with wonderful propolis balms available to purchase.
Nomadic Museum of Natural History:
The smallest natural history museum in the world devoted to celebrating the wildlife of the UK; displaying over 150 exhibits (some live!), with fossils, bones, shells, fungi, and insects. All collected by curator Tim Kaye.

Also on the Lower Lawn: Shepherds Ice Cream Trike, the Baby Feeding and Changing Tent, face painting and hair glitter.
